QUALIFICATIONS:

1.         Library Technician Certificate required.

2.         Experience in a Health Care Facility preferred.

3.         Proficiency in use of the internet for locating health information resource is required.

4.         Strong communication and problem-solving skills desired.

5.         Working knowledge of Windows based software application, including but not restricted to Microsoft Office.

6.         Demonstrated initiative and project management skills required.

7.         Ability to perform the position on a regular basis.

8.         This position is subject to a Criminal Record Check. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred.

Project Summary

This is time-limited project intended to organize the Oncology Patient Education Room and the resources available to provide a suitable area for patient education purposes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.         Liaise and consult with appropriate VGH oncology clinic staff to determine needs.

2.         Review existing resources, including pamphlets, books and videos and select and purchase new resources.

3.         Ensures that supplies of all reference publications are current and available including help sheets and orientation packages.

3.         Develop and maintain effective methods of display, storage and circulation of resources.

4.         Organize room to effectively meet needs for patient education, determining furnishings and equipment needed.

5.         Develop appropriate inventory, record-keeping and file systems for resource tracking, purchase and circulation.
