CLA and ALA Statements on the Destruction of the People's Library
Both the Canadian Library Association and American Library Association have released statements condemning the destruction of the People's Library at Zuccotti Park in New York City:
Excerpt from CLA's statement:
"Libraries are critical to an open and democratic society. We support those who are working to rebuild the People’s Library in New York, as well as those who are operating the Occupy Movement libraries across Canada.”

Excerpt from ALA's statement:
"The dissolution of a library is unacceptable. Libraries serve as the cornerstone of our democracy and must be safeguarded. An informed public constitutes the very foundation of a democracy, and libraries ensure that everyone has free access to information."
